MalaMala Sable Camp

Enjoy a delicious meal on the large wooden safari deck in the shade of a Jackalberry tree or in the dining room. Keep your ears open for the beating of African drums that announce dinner being served under the stars in the reed enclosed boma. Alternatively, when the weather is suitable, a candlelit dinner is served on the safari deck overlooking the Sand River. While seated around a log fire, enjoy the superb food and excellent wines which are a hallmark of this safari experience.

Guests to Sable Camp can indulge in exciting morning and evening game drive safaris. After sunset, nocturnal spotting is conducted with the aid of high-powered spotlights. These drives are conducted and guided an experienced Range. MalaMala Game Reserve is the proud home to more than 200 mammal species, including its Big Five (lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard), hyena and wild dog, cheetah, giraffe and various antelope, hippo, and warthog.

For the more adventurous, a close-up encounter with the diverse bush of the area is available via the guided bush walk, on request.

The photographic experience includes a dedicated photographic ranger to guide you through your safari. Their intuitive knowledge of animal behavior and skilled positioning of the vehicle affords one enhanced wildlife photographic opportunities. This, coupled with the option of either a sliding, cushioned camera rail or a fixed, cushioned camera rail, affords one the greatest comfort and stability when attempting to capture those quintessential wildlife images you’ve been waiting for.

The ranger who will be hosting the family during their stay will assess the age, enthusiasm and independence of the children and in collaboration with the parents and guardians, various activities offered at MalaMala Camp.

In between game viewing activities you can enjoy a workout in the small gym at MalaMala Camp, which is equipped with stationary bicycle, treadmill, multi-gym machine, rowing machine, sit up benches, pull up bar, free weights, mats and a steam room.
