Renowned for its abundant biodiversity, Queen Elizabeth National Park is a remarkable corner of Africa. Home to over 100 animal species, the park’s 1978 square kilometres (770 square miles) plays host to a remarkable variety of ecosystems, including savannah, rainforest, and wetlands.
Exploring this pristine landscape, you’ll encounter everything from tree-climbing lions on the plains to chimpanzees in the Kyambura Gorge. Hop aboard a motorboat safari on the Kazinga Channel, and you’ll marvel at large pods of hippos and many of the 600 bird species found here. Look forward to a safari unlike any other in Africa.
There are no restaurants in Queen Elizabeth National Park, but during your stay you’ll enjoy the warm hospitality and memorable cuisine of your safari lodge. Indulge in memorable culinary experiences, whether it’s a sumptuous breakfast buffet after a thrilling morning safari drive, or evening meals at the fireside inspired by Ugandan flavours and local ingredients. Dietary requirements and preferences can be catered for, but advance notice is essential. Please inform us when making your reservation.
There is no dress code on safari, so choose clothing that is comfortable and suitable for the occasion. At the lodge, you’ll want to wear layers of lightweight cotton along with thermal layers to help you adapt to cool mornings and warm afternoons. Neutral-toned clothing works best for game drives, and a light jacket is advisable for evening and morning excursions. Forgotten something? Most lodges have a small safari boutique that stocks sun lotion, camera memory cards, branded clothing, and souvenirs.
Queen Elizabeth National Park has a tropical climate, remaining warm throughout the year. Rainfall is heaviest between March to May and October to November, while the dry months provide better conditions for game viewing as the vegetation thins out and animals seek out permanent water sources.
Malaria is widespread in Uganda, and prophylaxis is advised. Consult your travel doctor at least three weeks before your departure. In the mornings and evenings, apply insect repellent and wear long trousers and long-sleeved clothing to minimize the risk of mosquito bites.
Queen Elizabeth National Park is located in western Uganda, at the foot of the Rwenzori Mountains.
Although Queen Elizabeth National Park is reachable by road from Entebbe (an 8-hour drive), we recommend that guests travel by charter flight to either Kasese or Mweya airstrip, followed by a short road transfer to your lodge.
