Game Drives
Every day in the Masai Mara is unique. Each game drive is an adventure into the unknown. We recommend staying for at least four days (three nights) to make the most of the game viewing while also enjoying time to relax in camp.
Walking Safari
Explore our Conservancy on foot! Being on our private lands offers the unique advantage of walking safaris directly from camp. All you need is comfortable walking shoes and a spirit of adventure.
Night Drives
One of the unique features of Mara Bushtops and our private conservancy is the ability to offer night game drives, included in your stay. As the sun sets, the landscape transforms, revealing new nocturnal creatures and dramatic scenes under the moonlight. Our 4x4s illuminate the eyes of a spring hare bounding across the plains or a predator stealthily approaching its prey. A night game drive is an unforgettable opportunity to encounter Kenya's wildlife at its most mysterious—spotting lions, leopards, buffalo, jackals, hyenas, and banded mongooses.
Hot Air Balloon Safari
It’s an astonishing sight: a hot air balloon, silhouetted against the rising sun, floating over the herds of the Masai Mara plains. Picture yourself in that balloon's basket, creating a memory that will last a lifetime, though you’ll need an early start to catch this magical moment! Additional costs may apply.
Bushtops Bushcraft Challenge
If you're bringing younger members of the family, there's something exciting waiting for them at Mara Bushtops. Our Bushcraft Challenge, included in your stay, introduces kids to basic survival skills, local culture, conservation, and the wonders of local flora and fauna. It's a fun and educational adventure for the whole family!
Full Day Game Drive & Picnic Lunch
On a full-day game drive, your ranger will select a scenic spot under a tree to set up a picnic lunch. Dining in the heart of the wilderness, surrounded only by the sounds of wildlife, offers an unforgettable experience.
African Spa Village
At the safari spa, indulge in rejuvenating massages, hydrotherapy, and a variety of holistic skin and body treatments. The spa also features a fitness facility with high-tech cardio and weight equipment. Relax in the sauna, Rasul steam room with Arabian mud treatments, or the hot tub. Take a dip in the solar-heated infinity pool, complete with water jets, or refresh yourself in the cold plunge pool. Unwind on the wooden relaxation deck with uninterrupted views of the salt lick and the African bush. Additional costs may apply.
Sundowners
End the day in the perfect way by watching a fiery red sun sink beneath the horizon while surrounded by the bush. Reflect on the day's sightings, enjoy drinks, and indulge in canapés.
Pre-Dinner Drinks at the Amani Spa Village Star Pool
A simply fantastic place to view the sunset and talk about the events of the day and the plan for tomorrow. The pool was designed with stars in the bottom that emit light through the water in the shape of the Orion constellation.
Drinks Around the Camp Fire with Traditional Maasai Dancing
The campfire is the perfect spot to unwind after a day of adventure. Enjoy drinks while being entertained by a traditional Masai dance, including the famous "adumu" jumping dance. While this is the most recognized, the Masai also perform other captivating traditional dances.
Lunch Overlooking the Salt Lick
Our guests often say it's "the best view in the Maasai Mara." Our private conservancy, just yards from the camp, is a wildlife haven. Directly in front of the restaurant and spa is a salt lick, where animals come throughout the day and night to gather essential minerals for their health and growth.
Kakiya Cave Visit
We’re used to surprises in the bush, but finding an historic Masai cave in our conservancy left us truly awestruck. This discovery has made our excursions even more exciting! We’d heard rumors of the cave’s existence, but after 10 years at Mara Bushtops, we never expected to find that just 15 minutes away (and a 10-minute hike) lay a site of worship, sacrifice, and communal gathering. The Kakiya cave, meaning "the place of eating and drinking," plays a significant role in Masai life. A walking safari through a scenic valley leads you to this hidden world. Here, you can learn to create fire without matches and hear about the cave’s history and cultural relevance from a Masai spotter. The cave features art painted with red ochre, depicting wild animals and warriors, often celebrating a successful hunt. While some of the paintings date back to the 1950s, others may be much older, offering a fascinating window into the past.
Private Bush Breakfast
Picture this: an early morning wake-up call, followed by a mysterious drive into the wilderness. As the sun rises and light floods the landscape, you arrive at an oasis of tranquility. You step out of the truck to survey the wonderland around you. Moments later, your table awaits—this is your Private Bush Breakfast. It's highly unlikely you’ve ever started a day in such a glorious location, or in such splendid isolation. No fellow diners—just you, our chef, and your ranger, serving a hot meal and an array of delicious buffet delicacies. A glorious day in the bush has begun… Additional costs may apply.
Maasai Village Visit
Masai tribal villages are scattered around East Africa’s national parks. At Bushtops, we highly recommend a visit to a Masai manyatta (village) for a rare insight into one of Africa's most renowned traditional cultures. Through our relationship with local tribal elders, we’ve built trust and secured privileged access to authentic living history, preserved in the villages bordering our private conservancy. Additional costs may apply.
Nkoilale School Visit
Education is the greatest gift, and supporting local schools is a core part of the Bushtops way. We believe that luxury safaris should go hand in hand with care for the land, its wildlife, and the communities who have been here long before us. Our local schools are proud of the work we do together, and the headmaster or a teacher is always happy to give our guests a tour. In about 45 minutes, you’ll meet the students, see them in class, and learn about the projects we’ve funded, built, or supported. A visit to the school leaves a lasting impression—it's a captivating experience, witnessing how children in less fortunate communities embrace every opportunity to learn, opening new doors for their futures.
